The "Mayor of Plantsville" Vote Splitting Video with Ms. Blueberry, Mr. Peach, and Mr. Squash
A 2013 video from The Center for Election Science
The following video is a simple, fun, and effective explanation of how "vote splitting" sometimes prevents the election of a popular candidate. Vote splitting isn't a problem in a two-candidate election, but (as you'll see) it's a problem in some three-candidate elections. The more candidates there are running for the same office, the more likely that vote splitting will be a problem. The "vote splitting" problem is sometimes referred to as the "spoiler effect".
